whom I have been following since the start is Aaron Wall, he’s the founder of SEOBook. In fact, SEOBook has been one of the oldest SEO websites that is still updated every day. Although the website was designed to offer those effective DIY SEO tips, it eventually ended up selling well over $1000000 in volume. And, they are even believed to last longer, as they sell some of the most amazing books online.
Another great name in the list of this amazing people is Andy Beal, who is a founder and CEO of Trackur, founder editor of Marketing Pilgrim and even the author of Repped: 30 Days to a Better Online Reputation.
I think he is one of those people who has achieved what they wanted. Not just that but I adore that he built such a great online reputation-monitoring tool called Tracker. He is believed to be the king of building reputation management and has done it for many of those big brands. Besides that, he has a long list of features including appearing on CNBC, Business week, Forbes, and NPR as well.

1. Promote Like No One Knows Who You Are
Because chances are…they don’t.
I don’t think there has ever been a time where you can just publish content and get it seen by thousands. It just doesn’t happen like that. Promotion is a necessity. How will anyone share your content if you don’t hustle to promote it? How will anyone know what you’re feeling if you don’t tell someone about it? The same concept applies.
One of the best ways to promote is through email outreach.
Here’s what you can do.
Head over to Ahref’s and plug in your competitors link for the same keyword you’re trying to compete with and contact each and every one of those webmasters asking for a backlink.
However, there is a right and wrong way to do it. One of the worst ways I see people do it is going straight for the kill.
Think about context.
Send out a feeler email beforehand letting them know you wrote something similar to the article they linked out to but yours is more geared toward “blank”. Tell them that you would really like to share the article with them. Ask them in the end if it’s okay to send the article over.
This way the person you are asking still has full control of how the conversation can go because you gave them the option. People are much more likely to agree when you reach out this way.

2. Quality Over Quantity
Long gone are the days where you had to publish content daily to generate traffic. It’s still recommended that you publish regularly but if you have a strategy – then you are more likely to generate the same results with less work.

That’s impressive! Usually when you rank for one keyword you end up ranking for more. This includes different variations for the same search.

Do it right the first time. Don’t compromise on quality. You’ll lose before even starting.

3. You Write for People
This is a mistake many newbies make. When I’m writing this post. I’m not trying to stuff keywords in this post nor am I trying to carefully place where my keyword will be at.
I’m writing for you.
Not for the search engines.
When you are writing – make sure you write with search intent. Google is getting smarter by the day and the only way to win is to be authentic and relevant. Google knows what your post is about. Don’t try to be so technical in your post that you lose engagement. Bounce rate is important as well. If your post is boring or irrelevant to what the search intent is for then people will bounce from your site in a heartbeat.
This just let’s google know that your site isn’t a good one to keep up there. Make your content engaging. Make it in a conversational tone. Talk to your audience. Not at them.
What exactly should you write about and go for? To increase your likelihood of ranking you need to do this.
4. Go for Long Tail Keywords
Many up and coming businesses with no leverage want to rank for their search term right away. If they can just get out of that mentality they can easily triple their traffic by targeting long tail keywords. What people fail to realize is that long tail keywords are easier to rank for PLUS are much more specific in general. Which means there’s more commercial intent. They aren’t looking for options. They’re looking for solutions. They’re looking to buy.
Here’s an example.
Someone looking for “Nike shoes” isn’t looking to purchase just yet. They’re in the option stage. They’re scoping out what they’d like.
Now if you target “Men’s Nike Superfly Size 8” then you know they’re searching to buy. You have to think with the end in mind. This will increase your conversions because it’s almost like you are tailoring your services.
Now all of these steps are great and all but you won’t rank without this.
This is definitely a no brainer. Backlinks are links that are pointing back to your site. However not all backlinks are weighed the same. There’s a big difference in a link at the bottom of a site and a contextual link. A contextual link is a link somewhere in the meat of a post or a site. The sources from where the backlinks come from are also extremely important. It’s important that the links come from high authoritative websites and that they are similar in the niche you are in.
Psychology plays a big part in gaining backlinks because you have to remember that there’s a person behind the computer. People are running blogs. People are running businesses.
6. Their Perception Becomes Their Reality
People do judge books by their covers. That’s why first impressions count. You have 50 milliseconds to control what someone thinks about you when they land on your site.
No one will link back to an ugly looking website. Your website has to look professional because no professional will link back to you.

So if you understand that backlinks are a big and I mean a BIG part in SEO – you need to understand the psychology of why people would link back to your site. Usually a simple site will do. Sites with too much stuff seems unorganized and spammy.
Think about it materialistically. People choose shiny objects over non shiny objects all the time.
Last but not least…
7. Don’t spam
You can’t manipulate the SERPS. Spammy stuff will always come back to bite you in the ass. Usually when people try to beat the system, it ends up taking them back worse than when they started.
Here’s an example of what NOT to do.
Let’s say you released a new video on YouTube but you have no subscribers. You think it’s an amazing video and people will miss out if they don’t see it.
You hop on fiverr.com and pay $5 for “unlimited traffic” for about a week. Boom! Your video starts getting tons of views!However once the views stop coming in there’s no more traffic.
What do you think the crawler is going to think? That you just happened to get organic traffic for a week and it stopped?
I doubt it.
It doesn’t take a mastermind to know something is wrong. Organic traffic will increase slowly and decrease slowly. Surges of traffic from unknown places is very likely to be spam.That’s when you get penalized.
SEO doesn’t have to be a needle in the haystack
If you follow these guidelines it will definitely help you out if you are new to this whole internet marketing thing or even if you know marketing.
